TWSC Launches New Website on Violence

To celebrate its 43rd founding anniversary today, the Third World Studies Center launches the website http://dahas.upd.edu.ph/ as part of its three-year research and advocacy collaboration with Ghent University on "Violence, Human Rights, and Democracy in the Philippines." A multidisciplinary network of academics, long-time activists, and veteran journalists did the research for the project.

For this soft launch, the Dahas (Violence) website conveys the preliminary information on the project's case studies from different localities across the country, an in-house database on counting the dead in the drug war with downloadable templates and how-to guides, as well as curated scholarly and popular resources on violence in the Philippines.

TWSC's international peer-reviewed journal Kasarinlan: Philippine Journal of Third World Studies will release a special issue based on select case studies this February. By mid-2020, the Dahas website will also make available to the public an edited volume based on the case studies. Both the journal issue and the book will be available for free online.
