The Third World Studies Center (TWSC) is proud and honored that one of its research staff, Emerald O. Flaviano, is recipient of the 2020 Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (Researcher Category).
In his nomination for Em, TWSC Director, Dr. Joseph E. Palis, cited her
[C]onsistent . . . professionalism and dedication. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences . . . . continues to write scholarly film reviews . . . . [and has had the published output of her project, "Cinemalaya and the Filmic Articulation of the 'Filipino Experience'" included in] library holdings from Hamburg, Germany to Texas, U.S.A. . . .The administrative and research staff of TWSC is confident that Em will continue to do her work at the Center with the same commitment and high work ethic.
Em will receive the award from UP Diliman Chancellor Dr. Michael L. Tan on February 28, 2020 at the UP Theater.

Natatanging REPS. Emerald O. Flaviano is a University Research Associate I at the Third World Studies Center (TWSC). She was recognized for her efficiency in the concept, design and implementation of research projects; for publishing her research works in local and international peer-reviewed journals; for her sharp critiques of many independent films as a member of the Young Critics Film Desk; and for her important contributions to extension services as Associate Editor of “Kasarinlan” of the TWSC.
