Kasarinlan receives CHED Journal Incubation Grant

The Kasarinlan: Philippine Journal of Third World Studies receives a journal incubation grant from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The journal incubation grant is under the CHED's Journal Incentive Program that supports "initiatives of Philippine HEIs/scholarly and scientific organizations to improve the quality as well as boost the global prestige of Philippine journals based on current international standards of scientific and scholarly publishing" (CHED Memorandum Order No. 53, series of 2016). Specifically, the grant is given to "promising Philippine journals towards the path to meet the minimum generally accepted standards for Scopus/WoS-indexability."

The grant provides for a cash award of PHP 400,000.00 annually over a three-year period, "technical support by CHED in providing the digital platform Portal for Academic Knowledge (PAK), CHED endorsement for library subscription, and automatic nomination for the CHED Republica: Journal of the Year category."

Under the previous CHED journal accreditation program from 2009 to 2015 Kasarinlan maintained a Category A-2 (very good to excellent) rating.

Kasarinlan is the in-house journal of the Third World Studies Center, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of the Philippines Diliman.
